*The inclusion of oats as part of a varied and balanced diet low in saturated fat can help reduce blood cholesterol. One 40g portion provides 1.8g of beta glucan soluble fibre which is 58% of the suggested daily intake. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3g of oat beta glucan.

Cooking guidelines

Boil - From Ambient. Saucepan

1. Place 40g of oats into a saucepan and add 220ml of milk or water.
2. Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and simmer for approximately 3 minutes until all the liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally.
3. Remove from heat and allow to stand for 1 minute.;

Microwave - From Ambient.

1. Place 40g of oats into a large microwaveable bowl, allowing over an inch at the top of the bowl for the oats to expand.
2. Add 220ml of milk or water and stir.
3. Place bowl in the microwave and cook on full power for the time specified below
750W = 3 minutes
850W = 2 1/2 minutes
1000W = 2 minutes
Do not cover bowl.
4. Stir midway through cooking time. Allow porridge to stand for 1 minute and serve.
Cooking times may vary according to microwave wattage.
