What are the symptoms of sun allergy?
Sun allergies are very common, especially among young women and people with fair skin. The most common form of sun allergy is Polymorphus Light Eruption (often abbreviated to PLE). Typical symptoms include a bumpy and irritating rash and skin redness, but you may also get blisters and pustules. Symptoms tend to develop a day or two after being in the sun and are normally on the underside of the arms and the chest − facial skin can be affected, but this is less common.
Other sun allergies include Acne Aestevalis (more commonly known as Mallorca acne). The symptoms of Acne Aestevalis closely resemble those of PLE. It typically effects women between 25 and 40 who experienced acne during puberty.

Eucerin Sun Allergy Protect Sun Crème Gel SPF50 is a face and body sunscreen specially formulated for skin prone to sun-induced allergies such as Polymorphus Light Eruption (PLE). The Advanced Spectral Technology combines broadband and photostable UVA/UVB filters(1) for high UV protection with Licochalcone A to neutralize free radicals caused by UV and HEVIS light. It also contains Alpha-Glycosylrutin which helps to prevent sun-induced allergies such as PLE. Unperfumed, to minimize the risk of skin irritation, the non-greasy and non-sticky creme-gel absorbs quickly and is water-resistant. (1.)Meeting the high standards for UVA and UVB protection defined by Cosmetics Europe. The levels of UVA protection are higher than the EU recommendation.

Licochalcone A
Licochalcone A is a powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and skin-soothing ingredient. It is derived from the root of the Chinese Licorice plant (Glycyrrhiza Inflata) which uses natural compounds to protect its cells from excessive sunlight. When used in skincare products, Licochalcone A works to reduce inflammation and neutralise free radicals that negatively influence skin cells and accelerate the ageing process. It helps to protect the deeper epidermal skin layers from sun-induced effects.
Alpha-Glucosylrutin
Also known as AGR, Alpha–Glucosyl-Rutin and Glucosylrutin, this naturally derived ingredient is extracted from the pagoda tree. Well tolerated by skin, it is a powerful antioxidant and helps prevent the oxidative stress caused by sun- induced free radicals. This oxidative stress can be a key trigger of sun allergies such as Polymorphous Light Eruption (PLE). AGR has been clinically and dermatologically proven to significantly reduce the risk of developing sun allergy symptoms.
