Our Story
How Jordans Came To Be
Jordans rather tasty cereal and cereal bars have a pretty unique story. And its mainly thanks to brothers Bill & David Jordans – our founders.
Although trained as a flour miller, Bill had also been a half decent rock drummer and played with French band 'Le Regal' before travelling to America and hitch-hiking to California.
It was there, in 1969, that he came face-to-face with the wholefoods movement that was sweeping the health-conscious West Coast of America. And it was there where granola breakfast cereal in particular appealed.
Bill brought back some of the fabulous granola to his brother David and they set about on a mission to convert Britain to wholegrain granola goodness. By 1972, Jordans' 'Crunchy G' granola was born and the recipe continues to this day – as our Crunchy Oats Granola.
But that's not the end of the story. Bill and David were both nature lovers with slightly hippy ideals that we're still passionate about today. So not only did they vow to change the (rather bland and unhealthy) British breakfast of the time, but also to farm the grain that went into the cereals in a sustainable way. The roots of our countryside commitment were beginning to take hold...
